Wooden Picnic Tables

Our wooden picnic tables are very popular, offering economy and function. All wooden picnic tables are ACQ (non-arsenic) treated reducing any material rot due to climate or insects. These wooden picnic tables will initially have a greenish tint that will age to a silver gray. Most frames are galvanized to reduce rust and corrosion.

Many can come equipped for a surface mount or in ground mount. A variety of them are made of redwood and coated with a sealer. The sealer gives it a natural color and preserves the material. It is necessary to re-coat it periodically to maintain the great look of the wooden picnic tables.

Contemporary Wooden Picnic Tables
A picnic table (or sometimes a picnic bench) is a modified table with benches expressly for the purpose of eating a meal outdoors (picnicking). In the past, picnic tables were typically made of wood, but modern tables can be made out of anything from recycled plastic to brushed metal. Picnic tables have been used for centuries and by people all over the world. The most popular form of picnic tables are wooden. Wood picnic tables have many benefits but also carry some weaknesses.

The type of wood used makes a big difference in the quality of the table, and how long the table will last. Wood tables do require a medium amount of maintenance including some soap and water occasionally. If wood tables are left out without any care they will begin to mold and the wood will start to discolor and lose its form. Warping is a major problem associated with wooden picnic tables. In order to help combat the problem many manufacturers are using pressure treated wood.

Over 70 years ago, Dr. Karl Wolman invented the process of infusing preservative deeply into wood products. Today, a giant industry has grown up around his quest to invent a wood that can last forever. Pressure treating is a process that forces a chemical preservative deep into the wood. The wood product is placed into a humongous cylindrical holding tank, and the tank is depressurized to remove all air. The tank is then filled with the preservative under high pressure, forcing it deeply into the wood. The tank is then drained and the remaining preservative reused.

The wood is removed from the tank and prepared for shipment to your local lumberyard. This process helps protect the wood from insects, vermin and fungus giving it an additional 20 years of service. The frame is also important when selecting which table will work best for you. Generally speaking picnic table frames are either bolted together or welded together. The welded style provides a little bit of additional strength. Also the size of the tubing of the frame makes a big difference. Picnic table frames are either 1 and 5/16” or 2 and 3/8”. This give you a couple options to help fit the budget.

Vinyl Plastic Picnic Tables

Vinyl Plastic Picnic Tables are a new and exciting way to provide value and picnic table functions for many projects. Vinyl plastic is extruded with inner structure for strength. They are light weight and easy to assemble. Cleaning is remarkably easy just wiping off with soap and water. The material is made to resist UV damage and made in the USA for quality.

These products have a 20 year warranty so customers can be confident they will last for years serving many picnic functions. They are made in the traditional style with attached seats. Like the rest of our picnic tables, vinyl plastic picnic tables can be ordered in a child size. These tables are just many options made today that are a benefit to our environment making a responsible “green” purchase.

Thermo Plastic Picnic Tables

Thermo Plastic Picnic tables offer the smoothest and most beautiful plastic coating available. The plastic is electro-statically applied and baked on the steel to completely cover the surface. This gives a strong bond with a high gloss to give a long lasting finish. One characteristic of this finish is that it is resists vandals’ graffiti. WD-40 can be sprayed on paint removing vandals’ marks. Schools appreciate this product for that reason as well as the many colors available.

Choose from the popular round, square or traditional rectangular shapes. The walk-thru frame gives easy access without stepping over the seat to sit. Generally a six foot picnic table will seat six adults while an eight foot table will seat eight. Children sizes are also available. The round and square table will seat eight adults. Matching trash receptacles are made to compliment your public areas. Thermo Plastic picnic tables offer a great product at a great price.

Public Park Benches

A public park bench is a welcome sight along a walking path or trail. Public park benches are just a nice place to rest. Think about the gardens, walking paths, bike paths, park trails and rest stops where these benches are used. Concrete, recycled plastic, resin, wood, plastic coated steel and aluminum materials are all commonly used for a good sturdy bench.

Many benches have black, green or brown frames to blend them in the to background scenery. Like many site amenities people take benches for granted expecting them to show up on the trail for rest and relaxation. I have seen log benches where a tree has been cut in half and creative molds at Disney with Mickey Mouse, or Goofy plastic benches at theme parks. Universal studios and Sea World have their own special benches.

You just can’t beat a good bench! Trail Benches, Park benches, theme park benches, garden benches, street benches, sports benches and church benches are as common as a hotdog on 4th of July!

Picnic Tables made from Recycled Plastic

Recycled plastic Picnic Tables are some of the newest styles for Parks, schools, government facilities and office buildings. Available in natural colors, they blend in with the environment and look like wood picnic tables. The material reuses plastic which helps reduces the amount of natural resources used and makes use of materials that used to be thrown away as garbage. We offer many different sizes and styles to accommodate customers’ needs.

ADA needs are met by wheelchair accessible models. Picnic tables come in traditional rectangular sizes with galvanize steel frames. Other styles are made from complete recycled plastic lumber. All styles use either stainless steel hardware or zinc coated bolts to minimize any corrosion for years of use. Recycled plastic does not need painting, will not crack peel or splinter making it a great choice for picnic table.

Recycled Plastic Adirondack Chair
An Adirondack chair (or in Canada, a Muskoka chair) is a type of chair used primarily in an outdoors setting. The first Adirondack chair was designed by Thomas Lee in 1903. He was on vacation in Westport , New York and he needed outdoor chairs for his summer home. He tested the first designs on his family. The original Adirondack chair was made with eleven pieces of wood, cut from a single board. It had a straight back and seat, which were set at a slant to sit better on the steep mountain inclines of the area. It also featured wide armrests which became a hallmark of the Adirondack Chair.
Today's Adirondack chairs usually feature a rounded back and contoured seat. The style has also been translated to other pieces of furniture, from gliders to love seats and benches. Some modern Adirondack chairs can be made out of recycled plastic lumber in addition to wood. Adirondack chairs are becoming popular as outdoor seating at cafés, because the flat armrests are suitable for setting food and beverages on, making it possible to provide individual seating without using tables.

The recycled plastic that is used in the commercial industry for Adirondack furniture is made of a recycled plastic polymer that is unaffected by rain, sun, mildew, snow, saltwater and even chlorine. The color is throughout the plastic lumber piece helping to preserve the color. The recycled plastic is also UV protected.
Caring for your Adirondack recycled plastic chair is simple and easy. Generally they can be cleaned quickly and easily with just some soap and warm water. If necessary you can use a 1/3 bleach 2/3 water solution for tough stains and will not have to worry about damaging your chair. Another popular method for cleaning is using a pressure washer. Just be sure not to exceed 1500psi.

Recycled plastic Adirondack furniture has grown into a full product line. There are many different products that incorporate the design of the Adirondack chair. In addition to the Adirondack chair there is also the Adirondack ottoman, Adirondack Rocker, Adirondack Bench, Adirondack Double Rocker, Shell Adirondack chair, Curved Back Adirondack, Adirondack Glider Bench, and an Adirondack Glider chair.

Adirondack can be used in all 50 states: Alabama, Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, North Carolina, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Vermont, Virginia, Washington, West Virginia, Wisconsin, Wyoming, and during any time of the year.

Pet Waste Receptacles

Dog Poop pick up, Pet waste Station, Pet waste pick up, doggy poop pick up and many more of these terms were foreign to most of us until recent years. In the 60’s and even the seventies and the 1980’s pets pretty much ran free to poop where they wanted. With the exploding population and the increase of Multi-housing neighborhoods we have experienced the need to pick up after our dogs to prevent nasty accidents.

If you do a search on the web you will find words like pooper scooper, dog poop bags, doggy do, dog dirt and pet litter. In the age of political correctness it is difficult to figure out what to call dog feces any more. However, when you step in it good old straight talk language will surface……. Aw Dog Dirt! or Damn I stepped in Dog litter!----I doubt it…Just Dog Sh_t! Will do.

Even though we have developed this new vocabulary I will give you a clue about what people really think. Google Dog Sh_t (Results of 254 Million) Now Google Dog dirt (not even 2 Million). I think it is safe to say we will be calling a spade a spade for a while.
However, it is the aggrevation of “stepping in it” that really drives the dog pick up business. Now it is the law in many places to pick up after pets. Consider the new phenomenom of Pet parks.
Many of us enjoy the companionship of pets. In fact, according to a 2002 survey by the American Pet Products Manufacturers Association, 62 percent of American households include pets. These animals don't ask for much, just a short list of basics such as food, shelter, veterinary care, and, of course, our companionship and love. Pets offer far more in return, teaching us about love, improving our emotional and physical health, and providing us with unconditional affection and friendship.

Parks and Recreation Departments around the country now welcome you and your dog to enjoy the vast amount of park space provided for you and your pet. However dog parks, require you to have your dog on a leash at all times and of course clean up after your pet. That’s where the new dogipot pet waste stations are useful. This is a system that has the dispenser for dog poop bags, a sign for leash instructions and a covered waste container to dispose of the dog dirt. It is the responsible thing to do and in many cases it is the law. Dogipot has designed a pet waste container convenient to the dog owner by providing the litter bags and the waste station for the disposal of the dog poop. Because dog poop can transmit diseases to children and other pets we must clean up after our pets.

You will find the dogipot pet waste stations in county or state parks and beaches. And now some motels and hotels resorts are pet friendly too. Condos and Home owners associations are also providing dogipot waste stations for home owners to walk their dogs and help keep their lawns clean when walking their dog in the neighborhood. You will find these at rest stops when traveling in your car.
The dogipot dispensers come in a 10 gallon steel receptacle with an aluminum bag dispenser. You can also purchase the new dog valet polythene receptacle. The dogipots come with accessories such as the on leash or off leash signs. There is also a small wall or post mounted bag dispenser that comes with bags and liners for the receptacles.

Plastic Coated Picnic Tables

Plastic Coated Picnic tables are the most popular selection for schools, churches, arenas, stadiums and fast food chains.

There are many different sizes and shapes that are available. The color selections are numerous to match schools colors, team colors, and office parks.

All of the plastic coated tables are popular, however the round and square may be the most popular.

A market umbrella can be used with them to provide shade and adds to the “curb appeal” for fast food chains. Sonic is a hamburger chain that nationally uses this style.

The tops are semi-solid and can be easily cleaned to keep them looking new.

Usually weighing over 250 pounds, they are not easily moved by vandals. Also, the tops and seats deter graffiti as they do not provide as solid surface to write on. Plastic coated steel is sometimes referred to as plastisol. The steel frame is dipped in the plastic to fully encase the metal to make a beautiful, durable and long lasting finish.

Picnic Tables for Kids

Picnic tables for kids and children are very special picnic tables and benches made for children’s sizes. Just like the adult tables and benches, they are made to fit children giving them a comfortable place to dine and “hang out” just like the big people.

The standard seat height for an adult picnic table is 16 inches high. The seat height for kid’s picnic tables are 14 inches with a reduce table height.

The square tables for children may sit up to 12 children if needed. However, 12 children may be too many if they are like my grandchildren, if you know what I mean.

The tables are heavy and stable and resist markers. Some styles have flat spaces for the children for writing or painting projects.

Styles vary from recycled plastic, vinyl plastic and plastic coated steel. Schools, Day Care Centers, Kindergarten classes are all perfect places for kids picnic tables.

Styles of Picnic Tables

We have a wide variety of Picnic Tables in many finishes and shapes. We offer wood, plastic, aluminum, fiberglass, recycled plastic and concrete picnic tables. Any choice is perfect for outdoor dining or for use at schools for outside craft projects. Our most popular picnic tables are the Plastisol or plastic coated. A picnic table (or sometimes a picnic bench) is a modified table with benches expressly for the purpose of eating a meal outdoors (picnicking). In the past, picnic tables were typically made of wood, but modern tables can be made out of anything from recycled plastic to brushed metal. Because of their inherent durability (due to being outdoors constantly), they are often used for a myriad of other purposes, such as a sawhorse.

In contemporary usage, picnic can be defined simply as a pleasure excursion at which a meal is eaten outdoors, ideally, taking place in a beautiful landscape. Picnics are often family-oriented but can also be an intimate occasion between two people, a romantic picnic, or a large get together, company picnics and church picnics.

On romantic and family picnics a picnic basket and a blanket are usually brought along. Outdoor games or some other form of entertainment are common at large picnics. Large picnics can also be referred to as barbeques.

Formerly, picnic meant a potluck, an entertainment at which each person contributed some dish to a common table for all to share. The first usage of the word was traced to a 16th century French text, describing a group of people dining in a restaurant who brought their own wine. The word picnic is based on the verb piquer which means 'pick' or 'peck' with the rhyming nique meaning "thing of little importance".

The 1692 edition of Origines de la Langue Françoise de Ménage, which mentions 'pique-nique' as being of recent origin, marks the first appearance of the word in print. The word picnic first appeared in English texts in the mid-1700s, and may have entered the English language from this French word or from the German Picknick.

Article by John Gravlee of Furniture Leisure, Inc. . Mr. Gravlee is the President and has been involved in furnishing properties with outdoor needs for 25 years.

Outdoor Trash Cans

Trash Cans, Trash Receptacles, Trash Bins, Trash Containers—what ever you call your collection containers for your trash, we have a solution. Plastic, Steel, Fiberglass, Wood, Concrete, and Plastic coated steel (plastisol) covers all commercial needs.

We service shopping centers, Cities, Office buildings, Stadiums, Parks and more. Whether you need a heavy duty steel trash can or a light duty plastic container, Furniture Leisure is the place for reasonable prices and excellent service. Let us supply your trash and garbage collection needs.

Outdoor Trash Cans
Outdoor Trash Cans are one of the most abundant amenities for cities, Parks, Industrial buildings, Office buildings and more places where garbage can accumulate. Generally speaking Outdoor Trash Receptacles are made in as many sizes types and styles as there are places to put them.
If you visit an industrial building like Wal-Mart, General Electric, AT&T, Ford, Toyota , Nissan, Boeing or Northrop Grumman you might find concrete, steel, plastic, recycled plastic, wood or stone clad trash cans. The size likely ranges from 22 to 55 gallons. The size depends on what type of garbage is expected. Industrial trash and garbage will vary depending on the level and type product manufactured. Also, many industrial facilities have eating areas and even restaurants. These areas require trash cans that can collect garbage efficiently without spilling and contaminating clean areas.

Office buildings like the Sears tower, Empire State Building , City Hall USA will generate a lot of paper trash and refuge that is usually dry but bulky. Paper shredders have created a new trash product that must be collected. Large steel, concrete or decorative plastic containers are used in common areas. The larger size reduces the number of collection times saving money. Liners are generally used to keep the receptacle clean. The liners are lighter inserts and usually are made of plastic. Occasionally galvanize steel is used for wet or heavy duty collection areas.

Restaurants have there own special needs. McDonalds, Burger King, Checkers, Wendy’s, are fast food and have different needs. The Cheesecake Factory, Outback, Carrabbas, Chili’s, Applebee’s or Disney Restaurants have their own needs for garbage removal. Upon entering a restaurant or public facility you will almost always find a trash can for trash people bring with them. In the cooking area there will be receptacles for unused food and soiled paper products. Here the aesthetics are not as important as the function. Sometimes lids are used to guide the trash into the can as in a public restroom. Other style lids will have doors to keep insects from flying in and out.

Stadiums and arenas are also areas that trash has disposal needs. The parking lot trash cans may even advertise and carry a logo for a team or just ad space. Throughout the facility there are garbage cans of all types for discarded paper, food and waste.

National, Public Municipal, and County Parks need trash cans that can keep out the animals and the trash in the cans. Usually they will have some type of top. It is good to mention that all commercial trash receptacles must consider flame resistant properties as people negligently throw cigarettes that may cause fire into trash cans. Then there is us, the public.

Humans are extremely destructive so garbage cans must be tough and heavy duty for public use. These are just a few of the Outdoor Trash Can needs.

It is good to mention that all commercial trash receptacles must consider flame resistant properties as people negligently throw cigarettes that may cause fire into trash cans.

Then there is us, the public. Humans are extremely destructive so garbage cans must be tough and heavy duty for public use. These are just a few of the Outdoor Garbage Can needs.

Market Umbrellas

At Furniture Leisure, our market umbrellas are 7 1/2 foot tall and made of fiberglass. These market umbrellas have a tilted one piece pole for use with picnic tables. They offer shade from the sun and look great on outdoor patios and in picnic areas. These market umbrellas have incredible strength and flexibility to absorb strong wind and abuse.

They have a rust free frame due to stainless and aluminum hardware with nylon parts. The sturdy pole offers stability and no breakage or permanent bending that distorts appearance. We offer a three year warranty on all of the interior frame parts of these market umbrellas.

Market Umbrellas
Umbrellas come in all different shapes and sizes and are made from different materials depending on the conditions where the umbrella will be placed. The most common material is fabric. They can be made by stretching fabric over a frame. The person is kept dry by the fabric which is usually water proof and water rolls off the sides. However, solid fiberglass, aluminum panels are specialty types.

Excerpt from RL. Chambers' Book of Days, Vol. 1 (1864) at 241-44
The designation of this useful contrivance (from umbra, shade) indicates the earliest of its twofold uses. Johnson describes it as "a screen used in hot countries to keep off the sun, and in others to bear off the rain;" and Kersey many years before (1708) had described it as "a kind of broad fan or screen, commonly used by women to shelter them from rain; also a wooden frame, covered with cloth, to keep off the sun from a window." Phillips in his New World of Words, edit. 1720, describes the umbrella as "now commonly used by women to shelter them from rain."

An umbrella is a device used to give shelter against rain or sunshine to a person. Umbrellas carried by hand are now usually used as rain shields, although their first use was for shielding from the sun. However, as sun tans became more sociably acceptable, this usage declined.
An umbrella made for protection from the sun is called a parasol. These are often meant to be fixed to one point called free-standing or used with patio tables or other outdoor tables.

Umbrellas are also used on the beach for shelter from the sun. These types of umbrellas are generally either 7.5’ long or 9’. An umbrella that is used close to a beach at the ocean will face much more damage and harsher conditions than one at a park somewhere inland. Winds are also an important factor to the durability of the umbrella. Market umbrella tops are made with vents in the top to allow the wind to escape. This helps relieve the top from stress and make it last longer.

The 2 main styles of umbrellas used in the commercial industry are the Garden, sometimes called patio style and Market umbrellas. There are several differences in the two kinds of umbrellas. Garden or patio umbrellas generally have a valence on them. This valance is material that is draped from the edge around the perimeter. It is sometimes used to place a logo for restaurants or brand recognition. It not only gives them a different look but gives more protection from the sun at lower angles.

Market umbrellas will usually consist of either 6 or 8 ribs that is the structure that holds the fabric. The ribs of the umbrella are very important to the life of the umbrella. Initially the ribs of umbrellas were constructed out of material that could break or deform easily such as wood or metal. Fiberglass ribs have greatly helped change the way people can use there umbrellas. The fiberglass ribs provide flexibility to the design of the umbrella making it more applicable to high winds. For umbrellas near the beach where the winds are the fastest umbrella ribs and frame are made from steel.

The fabric on your umbrella is also very important to the life of the umbrella. Most any fabric can be used on an umbrella However in the commercial industry there are two that are the most common. The first one I will discuss is the olefin fabric. This is a very popular fabric for people who don’t need an extremely heavy duty umbrella. Olefin fiber is a synthetic fiber made from alkenes. It is used in the manufacture of various textile products. Olefin is also referred to as polypropylene, polyethylene or polyolefin. It is not recommended to dry clean Olefin, because many dry-cleaning solvents can swell the fibers. As Olefin dries quickly, line drying and low tumble drying with little or no heat is the recommended method of drying. Since Olefin is not absorbent, waterborne stains do not present a problem; however, oily stains are difficult to remove. Most such stains can be removed with lukewarm water and detergent, but bleach can also be used. Olefin fiber has a low melting point (around 225 to 335 °F, depending on the polymer's grade) so items should be ironed at a very low temperature, if at all. Items such as outdoor carpets and other fabrics can be hosed off. Regarding disposal, Olefin is easy to recycle.

Marine Grade fabric is made of an acrylic fiber which is much tougher than the olefin. Acrylic fabric is used for boat awnings and situations where the demand for a heavy duty, mold resistant fabric is needed. Marine canvas is used as protection against harmful UV rays. UV damages varnish (causes degradation, loss of color and elasticity and finally cracking and peeling). Many American marine canvas fabricators use Sunbrella brand acrylic fabric, and although there are many other brands of acrylic canvas, they apparently do not enjoy the market strength of Sunbrella Fabrics, produced by Glen Raven Mills. The light colors disintegrate more quickly in the sun and can, under certain conditions (usually full tropical sun); lose significant strength within the first three to five years. Darker colors (Pacific blue, darker greens and black) may last up to 20 years in all but the most tropical conditions.

The History of the umbrella as a portable device for protection from the sun or rain goes all the way back to Asia and Italy where the umbrella was first made. Umbrellas were used to shade customers at markets as they shopped. The edge of the umbrella top is straight and the angle is slight from the top to allow people to easily walk under the umbrellas. The market was the heart of the cities in early twentieth century. People gathered together to do business and shop for their families. They were the early grocery stores and malls open air style. Some parts of the market are still popular. Everyone that travels to Seattle will be mesmerized by the beautiful thriving market there. The term “market umbrella” originated from that setting and has become the name for that style ever since. Today up-scale restaurants and chic bistros decorate their patios and side walk cafes with this trendy style. They are used widely in the hospitality industry for food service areas as well as pool setting. The clean geometrical look of the market umbrella is synonymous with good food, hospitality and leisure.

Beach Umbrellas and Cabanas

Outside of garden and market style umbrellas the most popular type of umbrella would be the beach umbrella. Beach umbrellas are used in many resorts and hotels that want to offer their guests a shady spot while still on the beach. Beach umbrellas are designed so that they may be stuck into the sand to anchor them and will remain upright. Another style of the beach umbrella is what is called the Cabana. These are umbrellas that do not have a pole like a typical umbrella. They are U shaped frames that can be laid on the ground and then pulled over to stand like a cabana. These are perfect for providing a nice relaxing spot on the beach and usually provide enough space for 2 chaise lounges.

Umbrella Base
The umbrella base is also very important. Umbrella bases are usually either plastic or aluminum/metal and will come pre-filled with cement or empty so that the customer can fill with water or sand. Bases almost always fall into the “get what you pay for” category. Cheap bases are almost worthless giving more psychological comfort than good support for the umbrella. Umbrellas require a weight to be attached to anchor them and keep them from blowing away or toppling over. One of the universal problems is that there are different size umbrella pole sizes for the bases to accommodate. The compromise often fails. Inspect an umbrella installed in a base and you will most likely find that the pole is not secured into the base. The most common installation is when the umbrella is used with a table so it is important to anchor the umbrella to keep the center of gravity low and stabilizing the umbrella table combination.
If you are going to use the umbrella with a dining table such as many restaurants or outdoor seating areas there is a breakthrough product that is guaranteed to save you time and money. The Ubrace is a design that allows the person to attach there umbrella to the table using a very simple method and it actually makes the table itself the umbrella base. The product is still in the early stages of development but once available to the commercial industry will be sure to change the way people think about securing there umbrellas.
For a stand alone or free-standing umbrella a heavy very stable base is required. Depending on the size of the umbrella, it is not uncommon to use as much as 175 pounds. One certainly doesn’t want to move it very often.
Umbrellas bases should be viewed as a valuable part of a system to keep the umbrella secure so it performs correctly.

Galvanized Steel Picnic Table Frames

Galvanized Steel Picnic Table Frames offer an alternative way to build your own picnic tables.

RV Parks and Campgrounds many times purchase these heavy duty picnic table frames and make their own top and seat. This eliminates shipping tops and seats which can save money when considering project budgets.

Frames that bolt together are the least expensive. They are made from 2 3/8” OD or 1 5/8” OD galvanized schedule 40 pipe.

Welded frames are available in the same size tubing and make strong stable picnic tables. Strong enough for public abuse, they are used in many National Parks and campgrounds for outdoor picnic tables.

These frames offer the same convenient walk-thru design popular when purchasing complete picnic table. Sometimes buying the Galvanized steel picnic table frames is the right choice for customers.

Fiberglass Picnic Tables

Fiberglass picnic tables are very popular for schools and businesses that use picnic tables for multiple uses.

One of the few picnic tables that offer a smooth surface for seats and the table top; this feature accommodates uses when a writing surface is required. Very few commercial picnic tables meet this requirement.

Fiberglass tables can be purchased in round, square and rectangular sizes. The square and round are popular with schools for encouraging social interaction as the seats oppose each other.

They also accommodate a market or garden umbrella in the center of the table.

Galvanized frames give long lasting strong structure for stability. These frames feature a walk through design to allow easy access without stepping over the seat to sit down.

Another great feature of fiberglass picnic tables is the color selection. Many project require matching school, sports team or business colors. These tables are just the right selection for many of our customers.

Evolution of the Casual Furniture Market Place

The Casual Furniture Industry is a Multi Billion dollar industry providing Chaise Lounges, Pool Furniture, Patio Furniture, Tables, Outdoor Chairs and Casual Dining Sets.

Prior to the past several years the industry has been dominated by many Domestic Companies such as Brown Jordan, Telescope, Tropitone, Woodard and others. Distribution occurred mainly through specialty furniture retailers.

The industry is very seasonal and requires manufacturing to cycle with the demand. These are some of the reasons that imported goods have been slow to penetrate the US market. The cost to ship containers made it difficult for Imports to be profitable. However, as with many sectors of the US market, the available margin between the selling price of the domestic goods and the cost of imported goods made it feasible to sell large quantities through the mass market retailers.
The past 5 years has seen imported casual furniture market quickly change.

Foreign manufactures began to court mass retailers and find enough shelf space to handle sending containers from China and other Asian Countries. Grocery stores Walmart/Sam’s Club, Costco -- Cosco, Kmart, Sears and the large Box Retailers brought cheaper imported furniture for store stock. Tables, Chairs that had held higher domestic value were ”knocked off” for a lower price. This furniture limited the style and color options. For instance, “you can have any color you want just as long as it is white!”.

Consumers found the tradeoff acceptable, lower price with fewer options. However, limited style wasn’t the only compromise. Many times there was a difference in quality as well. Imports commonly used steel to reinforce aluminum tubing which rusts. Many times the furniture left out in the weather would leave rust stains on the floor and furniture. Finish quality also failed to meet customers’ expectation as paint flaked off and was not up to domestic standards.

Pressure of imports, costs of raw materials and energy costs are and have been accelerating prices giving way to inflation. Manufacturers will have to be keen to compete or loose more domestic business.

Today we have almost every big box retailer from the Grocery Store to Cosco and Sam’s selling Casual Outdoor Furniture. The main fare is Outdoor Dining Sets that are used in combination with an umbrella. This leads to a new story about a new product UBrace™ to anchor the table/umbrella mechanism. To be discussed another day soon.

Concrete Picnic Tables

Furniture Leisure’s selection of pre-cast concrete picnic tables features square, rectangular, round, oval and octagonal tables. These high quality concrete picnic tables require very low maintenance which makes them an excellent choice for outdoor cafés and parks.

Some of our concrete picnic tables feature a built in umbrella-hole and due to the weight of these tables makes an umbrella stand unnecessary. The tables are made from a steel reinforced pre-cast concrete which meets ASTM specifications.

Characteristics of Commercial Picnic Tables
Commercial Picnic Tables are used extensively in the USA and other countries for many uses besides just parks. Some of the uses include employee dining for businesses, dining for sporting facilities, Fast food establishments, schools, Theme parks, Multi-family communities, highway rest stops and the list goes on. If one just observes these types of establishments, the amount of uses and purchases are astounding. Recently a major manufacturer suggested that the market size is over 100 million annually.

It might be questioned what makes a table commercial versus just a picnic table. No one has actually defined this distinction; however, suppliers of picnic tables would serve to give a definition from the types sold. Generally speaking, all wood tables cross the commercial line. Wood tables are usually built and distributed to local markets. One major benefit of wood tables is they are generally inexpensive. Wood tables are not generally available in large quantities, difficult to ship economically and have the draw-back of an all wood product use outdoors all year.
Commercial picnic tables come in some basic mediums.

Concrete, Galvanized Frames with wood, aluminum, recycled plastic, fiberglass or plastic coated steel tops and seats are common tables. They may be rectangular, square, round, octagonal or custom sizes to accommodate handicap users. Almost all are shipped unassembled to the end user. Some tables are chosen to meet a strong need such as deterrents to theft, constant public abuse such as graffiti, carving or any vandalism humans seem to create. Often concrete is used as the ultimate indestructible table. However, plastic coated are extremely popular and can be mounted in-ground for a permanent table.

Manufacturers of commercial picnic tables are mainly in the USA. Dealers exist that provide catalogs to specifiers and designers. Also, in the past 6 years as the internet has developed, dealers offer e-commerce stores to purchase and receive information about these products.

This furniture stacks and is available with heavy duty sling styles as well. All materials are made in the USA. Hardware and fasteners on this pool furniture for commercial use is all stainless steel for long lasting beauty.

Pool Furniture for commercial use Styles and Uses
The swimming pool deck is a demanding environment for the hospitality and multi-family industry. Many times the pool is used as a first impression to entice customers. Children as well as adults are attracted to the beautiful blue water and the refreshment it promises. Pool furniture not only has to look good but hold up to the commercial demands of public use.
Pool furniture made for public use comes in quite a few styles and is always made to meet or exceed the expected variations of people it will serve. To run through the major types there are aluminum with vinyl straps, sling fabric (both aluminum framed and resin), Resin or commercial plastic, recycled plastic and in some cases wood.
The style selected most likely will have to stand up to weather extremes and constant use in the warmer states like Florida , Texas , and California . Seasonal States like North Carolina , Iowa , or Minnesota are not as demanding due to the shorter season of use.
Factors that are weight heavily in choosing pool furniture for commercial use are long-term maintenance, colors and level of comfort. The aluminum frame used with vinyl straps is perhaps the most common found on pool decks. This pool furniture is one of the most common styles but is still used at some of the major resort hotels. An example is the Marriott in Orlando . It is one of the largest properties in that company and uses this type of furniture. The aluminum furniture can be refurbished by replacing the straps periodically. The comfort level is good as the straps support the weight of the user and have a certain amount of stretch or give.
Another furniture style that has become more popular is the “sling” style. Fabric is attached to a frame to support the user. The original concept started in the army in World War I as cots were made by stretching fabric over a frame to make a portable bed. Today the same concept is used, however, the frame may be resin or aluminum depending on the manufacturer. This furniture has a higher level of comfort and has more designs available as many fabric options offer color and pattern as well. Maintenance over time is more difficult as replacing the sling can be difficult. Matching the fabric after a couple years can also be a problem due to discontinued fabrics and fading.

Plastic resin furniture made by several manufacturers offers a sling product. This product has found acceptance even on cruise ships. Resin furniture stands up to sunshine, salt and corrosive elements often found present around swimming pools. This furniture usually offers less options for color and patter, however, it cost less as well.
Plastic Resin is also used extensively as it is less expensive than other styles and is made to commercial standards. Chaise lounges and chairs are made to compliment each other and they stack for convenience. Note: Most commercial properties require that the furniture stacks for storage.
The last style mentioned here are recycled plastic and wood. They are mentioned together as the recycled plastic imitates typical wood styles. Wood was used on beaches and around pools before the technology of aluminum extrusion or plastic molding was available. Today a new recycling industry has evolved reusing plastic and making it the size of lumber. This has led to new furniture styles imitating the old made from this new material. Therefore the styles resemble the early wood chaise lounges and chairs found on the beach in the early twentieth century.
Notice the type pool furniture at your next hotel stay. It most assuredly will be one of these types.

Outdoor Pool Furniture used Commercially
Pool furniture is essential to providing a quality, relaxing atmosphere whether for you and your family in your backyard pool or at a hotel, motel, neighborhood YMCA, or any place where a pool might be. Pool furniture can be found just about everywhere and is used in all states including: Alabama, Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, North Carolina, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Vermont, Virginia, Washington, West Virginia, Wisconsin, Wyoming, and during any time of the year.

Pool furniture comes in many different styles and materials as well. Certain types of materials are better for certain situations. For example Resin pool furniture is naturally impervious to salt water and many of the natural harmful effects the atmosphere can have. Synthetic resins are materials with similar properties to natural resins, viscous liquids capable of hardening. They are typically manufactured by etherification or soaping of organic compounds. The classic variety is epoxy resin, manufactured through polymerization-polyaddition or polycondensation reactions, used as a thermoset polymer for adhesives and composites. One more category, which constitutes 75% of resins used, is Unsaturated Polyester Resin. All of these types work wonderfully for an outdoor pool situation where the damaging effects of the atmosphere are worst. Resin will also keep maintenance time and costs low. Another good option for pool furniture would be aluminum strap.

Aluminum pool furniture is very popular and seen at many major hotels across the country. Unlike the resin which is one piece, aluminum pool furniture has a frame for the lounge or chair and then straps are wrapped around the frame to provide the support. There are many advantages to having strapped pool furniture. One advantage is the ability to replace the straps once they are worn, giving the chair or lounge a brand new look. With strapped pool furniture you can also arrange the color of the straps to fit your design. Strapped pool furniture is popular due to its relative durability and comfort. Virgin vinyl straps have memory and do not sag or break for many years. Strap pool furniture is a medium maintenance product, which will require proper cleaning on a regular basis. There is a vast array of specifications and levels of quality and durability in the strapped aluminum furniture industry. Often, strapped furniture is sold as commercial grade with specifications that are well below the accepted standards. Again, pay close attention to the design, bracing, and safety features of strapped aluminum pool furniture, and make sure the warranty is a commercial use warranty.

Commercial grade aluminum sling furniture is becoming increasingly popular for its comfort and stylish look. It incorporates the appearance of cushion furniture but without the cushions, which do not fare well in the typical commercial environment. When selecting your sling furniture you want to make sure you are getting high quality sling fabrics. Sling furniture only looks good as long as the slings are tight. While slings are typically difficult to replace, it can be done. Certain fabrics, typically vinyl coated polyester fabrics with very high thread counts, are most durable. Low grade sling fabrics are not recommended, however most manufacturers insist on very high quality fabrics that are rated for use commercial sling material, Pay special attention to the construction of the frame. The slings are made tight with bolts which should always be stainless steel bolts, preferably ones that go all the way through the sling furniture frame. This "bolt-through process" has solved the problem of aluminum sling furniture frames breaking where the fabric is attached to the frame. Sling furniture is a moderate to high maintenance product, which does require regular, proper cleaning and also requires a higher level of care with the furniture itself.

Picnic Tables
No outdoor area is complete without a picnic table. Picnic tables have been an outdoor staple for generations for many reasons. They are comfortable, convenient, serve many purposes, and are very durable. Picnic tables can be made out of many types of material.
Picnic tables are convenient because they can seat several people. With tables, extra chairs are need when more people are around. Picnic tables are simply benches attached to tables, so seating can vary. In a location where there are lots of children, picnic tables are especially convenient. A large group of children can sit a picnic table and be comfortable, and when they are done, clean up is easy. And, no one has to ask then to push their chairs in.
Picnic tables are very durable because they are always outdoors. Typically made of wood, the materials used to make picnic tables have changed over time to increase their durability. Now you can find picnic tables made out of metal, recycled plastics, and fiberglass. Some picnic tables are constructed as two benched on either side, while more modern picnic tables feature a round table design equipped with an outdoor patio umbrella in the middle for picnicking convenience.
Because picnic tables are always outdoors, they can serve many purposes. Not only do they get used for eating, but they can also be used for doing outdoor projects and crafts. It's much better to spill a little glue or paint on a picnic table than on your indoor kitchen table.
